Who We Are

Formed in Service, United in Brotherhood

The Parachute Regimental Association was formed at the end of the Second World War to further the interests of The Parachute Regiment and to organise functions so members could continue the associations formed during their service.

PRA membership covers all age groups and different cap badges with branches nationwide, including Northern Ireland. Meetings are generally held monthly to organise social functions, visits, reunions, pilgrimages, battlefield tours and more.

Our Patron

His Majesty King Charles III

The Parachute Regimental Association is very proud to have His Majesty King Charles III as their Royal Patron, a title he has held for many years. His Majesty is also Colonel in Chief of The Parachute Regiment, an appointment he has held since 11 June 1977.

Our Objectives

The PRA is governed by its Constitution — whose objectives are:

01
Commemoration

The commemoration and remembrance of those members of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces who have died while on active service; and the encouragement of public recognition of the sacrifice made by such persons.

02
Esprit de Corps

To promote the efficiency of The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces by fostering esprit de corps and maintaining contact between past and present members thereof.

03
Relief & Support

To relieve either generally or individually persons who are serving or who have served in The Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces, or the dependants of such persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

“

What manner of men are those who wear the maroon red beret? Firstly they are all volunteers, and are then toughened by hard physical training. As a result they have that infectious optimism and that offensive eagerness which comes from physical well being. They have jumped from the air and by doing so have conquered fear. Their duty lies in the van of battle; they are proud of this honour and have never failed in any task. They are, in fact, Men apart — Every Man an Emperor.
